My family of 5 planned a trip to the Keokuk area to find geodes. Needing a place to stay for the weekend, we did a search in the general area from Fort Madison, IA to Warsaw, IL for a cabin to stay in. We found the Nauvoo Log Cabins. These cabins were not only centrally located, but also as affordable as they were cute! The kids (ages 6, 4, and 1) absolutely LOVED the unique and authentic feel of the cabin. I was a little apprehensive as these cabins are tightly placed on a small lot. There's not much outside space for the kids to run/play. Luckily for us, they were too wore out from all the adventures and sight seeing to play outside. At the time of booking, we were unfamiliar with Nauvoo or its historical attractions. For us, this was simply a place to stay that met our needs as far as affordability, location, comfort and style. Onsite, in a small cabin, is a museum dedicated to the Mormonism history of the founder Joseph Smith and of the Latter Day Saints movement. This lead to a day filled with exploring and learning about the Mormon community's early lifestyle and Nauvoo as a frontier town of the mid 1800's. It was a great weekend vacation and the highlight was staying in the Nauboo Log Cabins.
