1. Mississippi Riverfront

The riverfront is one of the most iconic places in Nauvoo to watch the day begin or end. As the sun peeks over the horizon, its warm light paints the water and bluffs in shades of gold and pink. The Nauvoo Riverwalk is easy to find by turning west on Parley Street and following the road to the Mississippi River.
2. Scenic Overlooks (South of Town)
Best for: Wide panoramic vistas
A short drive from the heart of town brings you to scenic viewpoints overlooking the Mississippi valley. These easy to find spots are especially amazing at sunset, when the sky lights up in streaks of orange and crimson behind rolling hills. Dawn also offers soft, layered light peeking through low clouds and mist.

There are many gardens scattered through Historic Nauvoo, but our favorites are at the Women's Garden behind the North Visitors Center, as well as the Herb Garden beside Lyon Drug.
