A Slow Morning Start

Last Updated 8/19/2026Posted in Slow Down Experiences, Itineraries

Ease into your day with a slow, peaceful morning in Nauvoo. From quiet streets and cozy treats to gentle walks and unhurried moments, this relaxing itinerary invites you to start your day with intention—perfect for visitors looking to unwind, recharge, and experience the softer side of Nauvoo.
Begin with a warm drink and a breakfast sandwich or pizza from Casey's. Midwesterners know that Casey's is more than just a gas station, they have great food and the breakfast is a favorite! Take it with you as you walk through town while things are still quiet.
Head toward a peaceful street or open green space. The early hours here feel different—less busy, more personal. Sit at the Nauvoo Riverwalk and watch the river slowly move by. Watching the birds and barges are a relaxing way to start the morning.
If you’d like, stop into a shop as it opens. There’s something special about being one of the first people through the door. Most stores in Nauvoo open around 10am making for a nice slow morning.

Mornings in Nauvoo are slow and quiet. There’s no strict plan here—just fresh air, open space, and the freedom to move at your own pace. Sometimes, that’s exactly what everyone needs.
